Simple Safety Tips for Meeting New People
Meeting someone new can be exciting, but your comfort and safety should always come first. Keeping a few simple habits in mind can help you enjoy dating with confidence and peace of mind.
Choose Public Places
When meeting someone for the first time, stick to busy, public locations such as cafés, restaurants, or parks. These environments help you feel more relaxed and provide an easy exit if things don’t feel right. If your date tries to pressure you into going somewhere private and you’re uncomfortable, it’s perfectly okay to end the date early.
Respect Your Limits
Knowing your boundaries is essential. Alcohol and substances can affect your judgement, so only drink what you’re comfortable with and never feel pressured to do more. If someone encourages you to ignore your limits or makes you feel uneasy, trust your instincts and remove yourself from the situation.
Look After Your Drinks and Belongings
Only accept drinks that are prepared or served directly by staff, and keep them with you at all times. Drink-tampering substances are often colourless, odourless, and tasteless, so staying alert is important. Keep personal items such as your phone, wallet, and bag with you to avoid unnecessary risks.
Use In-App Safety Tools
Evindari give you control over who you interact with. If someone makes you uncomfortable, you can block their profile so you no longer see or hear from them. Blocking is private, and the other user will not be notified.
Use Video or Voice Chats First
Before meeting someone in person, a short video or voice call can help confirm they are who they say they are. It also gives a sense of their personality and makes first meetings less awkward.
Verifying Profile Photos
Reverse image searches can be a useful way to check whether profile photos are genuine. Save the image and upload it to platforms like Google Images or TinEye to see if it appears elsewhere online. You can also compare the information they’ve shared, such as their name and other details, to what appears in search results. Additionally, pay attention to any timeline gaps in their story, as inconsistencies may indicate that information has been fabricated.
Look for Copied Texts
If you want to verify that the messages someone sends are genuine, you can copy and paste them into a search engine. This can help reveal whether the text appears elsewhere online, which may indicate that it was copied from another source.
Share Your Plans with a Friend
Let a trusted friend know who you’re meeting, where, and when. Even a quick check-in message during the date can provide peace of mind.
Have an Exit Plan
Arrange your own transport or plan a “friend pick-up” just in case. Knowing you can leave whenever you want makes meeting someone new less stressful.
Emergency Support
If you feel unsafe or are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services right away:
- US & Canada: 911
- UK & Ireland: 999 or 112
- EU: 112
- Turkey: 155 (Police) or 112
- Iran: 110 (Police)
- Iraq & Syria: 112
If possible, move to a safe public place and reach out to someone you trust.
Evindari does not replace emergency services—always prioritise your safety.
Support Regarding Sexual Violence
Sexual violence is never acceptable. If you experience harassment, assault, or any inappropriate sexual behaviour while using Evindari, prioritise your safety by contacting local emergency services if you are in immediate danger, moving to a safe public place, and reaching out to a trusted friend or family member for support.
Underage Users
Evindari is strictly for users aged 18 and over, and accounts for underage users are not permitted. If you encounter someone who appears to be underage, do not interact with them or share any personal information. Please report the user using the in-app Report feature (see the How to Use Evindari guide) and block the user to prevent any further contact.
